Caminhos Cruzados

Welcome to a new chapter of Dão winemaking where tradition meets innovation

With a deep respect for the land and a vision for the future, we craft wines that embody the authenticity and elegance of Dão.

Our commitment to sustainability and modern techniques enhances the unique character of each wine we produce, reflecting the richness of the terroir and the expertise of our team.

The Wines

distinctive terroir

Caminhos Cruzados embody the essence of Dão, merging tradition with modern winemaking to create elegant, expressive wines known for their balanced structure, freshness, and complexity.

Each bottle tells a story of heritage, passion, and a commitment to sustainability, ensuring that every sip remains true to the land that shaped it.

The Vineyards

The Dão region benefits from natural protection against winds, thanks to the surrounding mountain ranges—Caramulo, Montemuro, Buçaco, and Estrela—creating excellent geographical conditions for wine production.

The vineyards here are situated between 400 and 700 meters in altitude, on plateaus with shallow schist and granite soils, interspersed with pine forests. These conditions result in full-bodied wines with great aging potential. The region cultivates a rich variety of grape types, including Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Jaen, and Tinta Roriz for reds, and Encruzado, Bical, Cercial, Malvasia Fina, and Verdelho for whites.

The Winery

In 2017, the new winery was inaugurated, a bold architectural statement rising from the vineyards of Quinta da Teixuga.

Inspired by the company’s logo, with two intersecting lines, the structure blends seamlessly into its surroundings. Thoughtfully designed with both aesthetics and sustainability in mind, it also offers an immersive wine tourism experience.

With a vinification capacity of 400,000 liters, this marks a long-awaited rejuvenation for the Dão region, with Caminhos Cruzados lovingly referred to as “The New Dão” for its revival under a modern vision.

Wine and Food

Tradition is our greatest inspiration.

Here, comfort and a welcoming atmosphere come together with the desire to create memorable experiences through dishes that celebrate the flavors of our region.

We invite you to indulge in our meals in a variety of settings whether in the wine cellar, the tasting room, the outdoor patio, or on the most charming terrace in Dão, where a breathtaking view of the vineyards sets the scene.

The Wine Shop

The Caminhos Cruzados shop is part of the modern winery complex that includes a tasting area, providing visitors with a full wine tourism experience.

Visitors can purchase wines directly at the shop and enjoy guided tastings to explore the different styles and flavors.

Sustainability

Commitment to Sustainability

Commitment to Sustainability

At Caminhos Cruzados we established clear guiding values for sustainability: connecting ancestral traditions with technology and innovation, promoting a circular value approach in the use of soil, water, and natural resources, fostering a deep connection with the community through knowledge-sharing and best practices, and leveraging the vineyard’s entire ecosystem as a unique differentiator for producing grapes with distinct character and terroir.

2021 – We launched an agroecological management plan for Quinta da Teixuga, not just for the vineyard but also the surrounding forests and natural spaces. Our goal is to work in harmony with nature, progressively minimizing or even eliminating herbicides and pesticides, thereby creating truly ecological wines.

2022 – We introduced certified sheep used in Queijo da Serra production to naturally control weeds and encourage soil regeneration in the vineyard. This approach fosters fertile soil enriched with biodiversity and carbon.
