Ribafreixo Wines

A region with over 2,000 years of winemaking heritage
Ribafreixo Wines is a wine-growing project spanning 114 hectares in Vidigueira, in Vidigueira, an Alentejo DOC subregion with a great tradition in winemaking with over 2000 years of history.
Our winemaker, Paulo Laureano, is recognised for his mastery in creating wines of excellence, and is a fundamental part of our growing success and affirmation in the market.
distinctive terroir
Vidigueira benefits from a unique microclimate in the Alentejo wine region, where hot, dry summer days are balanced by cool, refreshing nights, thanks to Atlantic winds funneled through the Serra do Mendro.
Combined with the estate’s schist soils and native grape varieties, this specific terroir yields wines of exceptional character, with rich aromas and vibrant freshness.
The Vineyards
Tradition with innovation
For our white wines, we celebrate local heritage by featuring indigenous Portuguese grapes like Antão Vaz (native to Vidigueira) as well as Arinto, Verdelho, Alvarinho, and Síria. We also include Chenin Blanc, a grape originally from the Loire Valley, introduced by our founder to add a distinctive edge to our portfolio.
For our red wines, we proudly celebrate Alicante Bouschet (the queen of Alentejo reds) along with notable Portuguese varieties including Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro, Tinta Miúda, and Aragonez.
The Winery
Among the extensive vineyards of Ribafreixo Wines, at the highest point of the estate, the winery leaves no one indifferent, with its contemporary lines, large area and illuminated by natural light.
The winery is housed in a 4000 m² building of bioclimatic architecture, designed to use gravity in the various stages of production. The winery comprises: a winemaking area, with stainless steel vats, oak vats and specialized vacuum presses; an ageing area for the wines oaked in French oak barrels as well as a bottle staging cellar, a bottling and labelling line; cold storage chambers and a panoramic laboratory centre to control and supervise all operations.
On the upper floor of the winery, there is a welcoming area dedicated to wine tourism, which includes the winery restaurant, tasting area, leisure area and wine shop.
The Restaurant
At Restaurante da Adega, we offer a refined take on traditional Alentejo cuisine that captures the region's authentic flavors paired with a warm ambiance and breathtaking views over our endless vineyards.
