TASTING NOTES
Wine with an amber colour and greenish hues. On the nose, it is very intense and rich, with aromas of caramel, dried fruits (walnuts and figs), spices, and a slight tangy note. On the palate, it is equally intense, with well-marked acidity and sweetness, showing sublime complexity and an lingering finish.
Serving suggestions
Pairs well with traditional Portuguese convent sweets, particularly Pudim Abade de Priscos, or with aged Gouda cheese with at least 5 years of maturation. However, it is especially enjoyable on its own, as it is a true symphony of aromas and flavours that requires no accompaniment. Should be served at 16ºC
Description
80 Years Old Tawny Port is an exceptional wine resulting from a blend of Ports that have aged in 550 liter casks over many years in the fresh warehouse of Quinta da Pacheca. During aging, the wine transforms its red color into various shades of amber, brownish, with greenish hints when the wine is very old. The sugar concentration increases and the acidity due to esterification phenomena and also gives origin to an acidity that we call vinagrinho.
